Battalion Commander's Welcome Message

Welcome to our website. The 1^st Battalion, 108^th Armor - The Rough Riders - is part of the 48^th Separate Infantry Brigade (Mechanized) of the Georgia Army National Guard. There are 15 enhanced brigades in the Army National Guard inventory and seven of those are organized as heavy separate brigades. Additionally there are seven air assault brigades and one armored cavalry regiment.

As the commander of the Rough Riders, I’m very proud of our organization and of our contributions to our great nation. We serve a vital role in the scheme of maneuver and are a great combat asset.

I want to humbly offer my gratitude to all Soldiers and families. For the soldiers of this great battalion, your deeds and dedication are an important element in the defense of our nation. I know the families also endure hardships and their actions have been exemplary and have impacted us in so many positive ways.  I can only say from the bottom of my heart that you are all national treasures and your contributions will not be forgotten.

48th Infantry Brigade (M) Alerted

The 48th Infantry Brigade has been alerted for possible mobilization and deployment in support the Global War on Terrorism. More than 1,200 Soldiers will report to duty in December, with another 2,300 expected to be called-up after the first of the year. While the exact schedule has not been announced, the unit is expected to report initially to Fort Stewart followed by exercises at the NTC, Fort Irwin, California. The Brigade is expected deploy for a 12-month rotation to southwest Asia beginning sometime next spring.
